I worked on an identity for the annual NI Connect conference that built upon their latest visual system refresh. This was a moment to celebrate the brand in an immersive, physical way—bringing another dimension to the brand to welcome attendees into a memorable space that celebrates engineers. The focus was to design the conference entry points for their Austin, TX event which included wayfinding, supergraphics, and space activation concepts.
Having a background in experience design, this was a fun project for me to bring the brand to life in a spatial, multi-sensory way. I also worked with print vendors and partners to make sure our assets were ready for production. Not everything was made but the visuals themselves still influenced touchpoints across the event space for a "completed look".
As part of our visual territory exploration, I got into a flow state and hopped into Blender to bring a conceptual direction to life. I was really into the idea of visualizing 'impact' typographically and the various ways of using digital-physical materials to get this effect. The intention was to relate this metaphorically to the hardware (physical) and software-based (digital) products that NI has to offer. At one point, I was staging sesame seed type on a bass amp to create reverberations on the 'Connect' mark.
Event stage was designed by another team based on the design intent.
